We know you see "Trading" in our name and assume you'll be relegated to some dark corner to code for the "business" but this impression is entirely wrong. At HRT, an automated trading firm based in NYC, the code you write *is* our business, so it is everyone's job, top to bottom, to make sure our developers have everything they need to do their jobs well.

HRT’s two main programming languages are C++ and Python. We use C++ for anything latency sensitive that sits on the critical trading path, and we use Python for everything else. With Python we monitor live trading, build our distributed computing platform, process large amounts of data, and write all of our internal tools.

As a Python Engineer at HRT, you’ll step into an incredible learning opportunity; HRT is one of the top algorithmic trading companies in the world, with one of the most advanced distributed compute environments. You’ll collaborate with researchers and engineers to build high-impact products, help HRT tackle exciting new initiatives and streamline every part of the trade cycle. You’ll be amazed at what you accomplish.

Responsibilities

  • Help us develop software that reaches into every office and department at HRT while using the latest technologies and techniques in Python and Software Engineering to drive improvements to our systems, new and old.
  • HRT has many high-impact areas where we use python, here’s what you could work on as a Python Engineer here:
  • Improving job orchestration and scheduling in our huge compute cluster.
  • Building Python tooling and environments for all developers at HRT.
  • Deploy, automate, and monitor systems for global trade management and post trade analysis.
  • Building systems for hardware verification and tooling.

  • In-depth knowledge of the Python ecosystem and best practices
  • Excellent design, debugging and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of UNIX operating systems (we use Linux), system/processor performance, and network communication
  • Experience deploying and maintaining applications. You’ve managed an application from the design phase through the production phase.
  • Ability to look at code, figure out how it works, and how to make it better.
  • You really like to work with people who challenge you and make you better at what you do.
  • In your spare time you: code, tinker, read, explore, break things, and have an insatiable curiosity for all things computer-related -  you'll find like-minded people here.

You will impact how teams within HRT strategically collaborate to drive the company forward and help create the future of trading. Responsibilities will involve debugging and programming for our highly technical user base, so a CS degree or significant programming experience is required to succeed in this role.

As our Product Manager, you will be responsible for the success and improvement of the tools that support development, research, and trading at HRT (the "products"), help set long-term vision and strategy for selective products, and collaborate with the Software Development team to meet the needs of both Algo and Engineering teams (the "users").

Responsibilities

  • You will dig deeply into the Algo team’s user experience and workflows to determine which new tools or improvements to existing tools will be the most impactful to HRT.
  • You will collect information on the Algo team’s requirements through surveys, conversations, feedback sessions, and automated reporting. You will become adept at anticipating the needs of HRT’s Algo Developers.
  • You will work closely with Software Engineers across Algo, Trading Technology, and Research & Development to set technical strategy and prioritize development work.
  • You will take the lead on our 2-year strategic plans for critical tooling and Algo-facing resources.

Profile

  • You have 3-5 years of product management experience working in a highly technical environment.
  • You have a strong foundation in software development that supports your product management experience.
  • You have demonstrated success in your current role and/or demonstrated advancement in career trajectory.
  • You are a “people person.” Now, this doesn’t have to mean that you love to chit-chat with strangers in grocery stores or elevators (although if that is the case, you’ll have lots of fun in our cafeteria lunch line). For us, it means that you are empathetic, an active listener, and value building collaborative and sustainable relationships.
  • You have a curious disposition and want to know things. You constantly itch to discover the “why.”
  • You thrive working in fast-paced environments with rapidly shifting priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or another technical field
  • Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of trading concepts is a plus
  • Substantial Python experience
  • You know your way around a Linux command line

Hello! I’m Aiden, Director of Product Design at Customer.io.

Customer.io is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our product design team. We’re working hard to build a product that enables companies to communicate authentically with their customers in inventive and flexible ways. You'll join a team of highly skilled and empowered designers in a remote and distributed company of about 250 team members across 17 countries.

This role will join our growth team, where you’ll envision and run experiments to help new customers get started with Customer.io more successfully. Product growth designers embrace rapid iteration and experimentation. A successful candidate will be expected to apply their prior experience and expertise in growth and activation, coupled with a creative and high-craft approach to designing product solutions.

This role will partner with a product manager and a team of engineers to lead a squad through experimental approaches at driving activation and reducing time to value. You'll partner with growth marketing leaders to develop hypotheses and growth strategies, measure the success of experiments, and develop a deep understanding and ownership of self-service activation. You'll push the entire design team to create more impactful experiences by giving actionable feedback, iterating on team processes, and holding people accountable for our culture and quality standards.

What you'll do…

  • Work rapidly with your team to design and launch experiments, learn from the results, and iterate quickly to drive critical business metrics
  • Create design proposals for growth experiments and collaborate with engineers, marketers and other stakeholders to shape activation strategy
  • Develop an understanding and compassion for customers through research
  • Participate in the team’s prioritization of work, advocating for experientially-driven solutions to tough activation problems
  • Help shape the design team's culture and design processes, including sharing thoughtful 1:1 feedback with peers

About you…

  • You’re an experienced product designer with 3+ years of experience in a software development setting, with a minimum of 1+ years experience in a growth role
  • You’re most comfortable in an experimentation setting, and are motivated by creating measurable business impact with your work
  • You are comfortable approaching problems from first principles, repeatedly asking “why?” and using that insight to explore unique, innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Your design executions display a high level of craft, and you have a strong ability to communicate the thinking behind your designs to partners and stakeholders
  • You have a growth mindset and a willingness to receive and provide feedback, and learn from mistakes
  • You thrive with autonomy and ownership, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity
  • You are comfortable communicating asynchronously, including across time zones
  • You have a passion for making complex functionality more approachable
  • You have experience understanding complex systems and designing simple, elegant user interfaces for them

What we're looking for…

  • 1+ year(s) prior experience in a growth design role, preferably for a B2B product
  • Able to commit to at least 3 hrs of working overlap with the Americas (GMT-8 to GMT-5 timezone)
  • Familiarity designing within the constraints of a design system and how interfaces are built from components
  • Experience conducting your own user research to gather customer insights and incorporate it into your design decision-making
  • Experience with tools like Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Fullstory
  • Proficiency with Figma

About Design at Customer.io

While your daily work will be as part of a cross-functional squad, the design team will be your home for support and growth. We meet as a design team multiple times each week to give feedback on in-progress work, and communicate daily about new things we learn, improvements to our design system, and collaboratively define and develop our design culture.

About Customer.io

Customer.io takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S., and international, locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
