Position Overview:
Linktree is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Communications to lead our strategic communication efforts. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of proven experience in communications, with deep media relationships, a robust network of reporters, and expertise in the creator and creator economy space. The Head of Communications will play a pivotal role as a player-coach, managing a small, nimble team, while also taking a hands-on approach in pitching and placing compelling stories to enhance Linktree's brand presence.
Responsibilities:
- Media Relations and Outreach:
+ Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
+ Leverage existing media connections to secure strategic coverage for Linktree in relevant publications.
- Strategic Communications:
+ Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Linktree's business goals.
+ Craft compelling narratives that showcase Linktree's impact on the creator and creator economy space, staying attuned to trends in the creator space and social commerce.
- Player-Coach Leadership:
+ Lead and mentor a small, nimble communications team.
+ Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Pitching and Story Placement:
+ Personally spearhead the pitching and placement of stories to secure high-profile coverage.
+ Work closely with the team to ensure consistency in messaging across all communication channels.
- Understanding of the Creator Economy:
+ Possess deep insights into the creator economy, understanding the unique needs and challenges faced by creators.
+ Stay current on trends in the creator space, social commerce, and digital content creation.
- Hustle and Fast Pace:
+ Thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, bringing a proactive and agile approach to communications.
+ Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a willingness to hustle to achieve impactful results.
- Monitoring Industry Trends:
+ Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging issues.
+ Provide insights to leadership on communication strategies in a rapidly evolving landscape.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in communications, with a focus on media relations.
- Proven track record of securing high-impact media coverage.
- Expertise in the creator and creator economy space, with an understanding of trends in the creator space and social commerce.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a communications team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with reporters and influencers.

Linktree is committed to providing a competitive compensation package. Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $210,000-$285,000 in the San Francisco Bay, Los Angeles or New York City area. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate expertise, the scope of role and level, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

We are a global and diverse group offering a truly flexible and family friendly work environment. Kids, pets, and the occasional delivery person are all actively encouraged to appear on our Zoom screens. All of us at Linktree work either fully remote or a hybrid approach.
We currently have offices in Melbourne and LA but our team is spread across Australia, United States, Europe and New Zealand. As our team approaches 200 people, our company will be 10x the size we were in 2020.
We offer autonomy and flexibility in how you structure your days and weeks. There will be the need for some collaboration outside of a "normal" 9-5 being a global company, but we aim to work asynchronously where possible.
