Job Description

About the team and role

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join our Product Content team. This team is a mighty group of Technical Writers and UX Writers who strive to deliver accurate, concise, and well-written technical documentation, online help, error messages, and UI text that help our users to perform their tasks.

As a Senior Technical Writer, you’ll work with agile software engineering teams to write developer documentation around cloud apps, iPaas, network management, workflow automation, and more. You’ll thrive here, if you’re curious, open-minded, flexible, passionate about user experience, love to take ownership, and deeply value collaboration.

Essential requirements

  • Proven experience as a technical writer for an agile software company. You have outstanding writing skills, technical aptitude, ability to research technical concepts, analyze specifications, and communicate them clearly and precisely in plain language.
  • Experience writing technical documentation for complex enterprise software products in an agile environment. You may have written developer documentation for cloud apps, iPaas, SaaS, AI, ML, IoT, network technologies, etc.
  • You have a basic understanding of technical concepts like APIs and web applications. You don’t need to write and read code, but while collaborating with development teams, you are able to go through epics, ask questions, understand developer tasks, and can explain them in plain language.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate respectfully with Engineering, Product Management, and UX to improve user experience and write content.
  • You've worked in a docs-as-code approach and are comfortable with Markdown and Git.

What you'll do at Boomi

  • Plan, write, edit, architect, and maintain software documentation for a highly technical product. You'll ensure that users get just the right amount of information, at the time they need, and in the format they need.
  • Work closely with scrum teams and engineers to understand complex concepts, gather information, and translate technical information into user-friendly content. You'll clarify complexity and speak with users in the language they understand.
  • Collaborate cross functionally and with other writers to address customer feedback and work on strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to tools and processes that make documentation more efficient, collaborative, and scalable.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, multi-team agile environment with a willingness to manage competing priorities and use agile methods to keep in sync with team priorities and roadmap.

Desirable requirements

  • A ‘niche’ area of strength, e.g.,localization, accessibility, API documentation, style guides, authoring tools, etc
